How to Prepare & What to Expect

What to Expect During Kambo

What would if feel like?

The immediate impact of Kambo can be intense and challenging, lasting around 30-40 minutes, with the most difficult part occurring within 10-15 minutes. It brings about symptoms such as a feverish rise in temperature, sweating, shivers, dizziness, and a rapid heart rate, possibly exceeding 190 beats per minute. Blood pressure may fluctuate dramatically, accompanied by heightened awareness of veins and arteries. Many individuals describe a tingling or electric burning sensation that starts at the points of application and spreads throughout the body, sometimes accompanied by a dissociative or euphoric state.

Nausea is typically unavoidable with Kambo, often leading to purging. Other effects may include tingling and pressure in various areas like the head, neck, and torso, mild stomach discomfort, throat inflammation, dry mouth, temporary difficulty in movement, and swollen lips, which will subside.

Once the initial effects subside and the heart rate returns to normal, it is beneficial to rest, possibly experiencing dreamless sleep. The after-effects may vary, ranging from enhanced physical strength, heightened senses, and increased mental alertness. Positive effects can include elevated mood, enhanced energy, reduced stress, sharpened focus, clarity of mind, emotional release, heightened awareness, resilience, improved well-being, and greater clarity in one’s life path. Multiple Kambo sessions within a short period can intensify these benefits, allowing for deeper healing and cumulative effects.

Preparation is important

How to Prepare for Kambo?

Before the Kambo ceremony, it is important to adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Fasting: Refrain from consuming any food for at least 8 hours prior to the ceremony. If your session is in the morning, you may have a herbal tea or water upon waking up to hydrate, but nothing within 2 hours of the treatment. For afternoon sessions, you can have a smoothie for breakfast and sip tea with honey to maintain energy until the treatment, but again, nothing within 2 hours prior. Ensure that you eat well and stay hydrated the day before and after the Kambo session. Kambo works best when nourished by healthy food and proper hydration.

  2. Medications and Supplements: Avoid taking any supplements or medications on the morning of the session. If you have concerns regarding this, please reach out to us. You can take them later in the day as needed.

  3. Alcohol Abstinence: It is recommended to abstain from consuming alcohol for 24 to 48 hours prior to the ceremony, depending on the amount consumed. If possible, please refrain from alcohol for 3 days after the ceremony. This is not due to any danger, but rather to create a conducive environment for the Kambo treatment and show respect for the medicine.

During the ceremony, please bring a gallon of water, a blanket, a pillow, and dress comfortably. If possible, avoid wearing contacts and opt for glasses, as we may use Sananga (although it is not mandatory).
